Well, Adobe Illustrator provides the designers a platform at which we can easily turn a low-resolution file into a very high resolution. A file that has pixels is called a raster. On the other hand, the files like pdf, svg, eps, etc do not lose their quality even we zoom it 2000% or more! These files are called vector files. So similarly the method of converting raster into a vector is known as vectorizing. So in Adobe Illustrator we can not only convert low resolution into a high-resolution image but also convert into a vector file.
